Client Requirements

Our client sought to revolutionize the educational assessment landscape by commissioning a sophisticated, web-based platform designed to automate the evaluation of handwritten answer sheets. The core challenge was to overcome the traditional, burdensome process of manual grading, which is often time-consuming, subjective, and provides delayed feedback to students. The vision was to create an intelligent system that leverages the power of Artificial Intelligence and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to create a seamless, efficient, and impactful assessment cycle.

Challenges and Approach

  • Inefficient Answer Sheet Handling
    Manually scanning and uploading individual answer sheets for every student in a class was a significant logistical bottleneck for teachers.
  • LLM Output Token Limitation
    The project confronted a hard, industry-wide limitation inherent to Large Language Models: output token limits. The sheer volume of data for each answer sheet—including questions, answers, marks, strengths, weaknesses, and reasons-quickly exceeded this limit when using a conventional JSON structure, making it impossible to process long answer sheets in a single pass.
